Product Description
La Flor Dominicana built its reputation on one specific idea: more ligero than most cigar makers dare to use, and the strength and flavor that comes with it. This Toro Selection sampler puts five of the brand's core blends side by side, one of each, so you can experience the full range of what Litto Gomez has built over three decades without committing to a full box of any single line.
Litto and Ines Gomez founded La Flor Dominicana in 1996 in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and built the brand around estate-grown ligero tobacco cultivated on their own farm in La Canela. Ligero, the leaf grown at the top of the tobacco plant where it receives the most direct sunlight, produces the richest, strongest, most flavor-dense tobacco available, and most cigar makers use it sparingly, layered underneath milder leaves to keep a blend balanced. La Flor Dominicana takes the opposite approach, building entire lines around heavy ligero content, and this sampler shows exactly what that philosophy delivers across five distinct cigars.
The Ligero Natural L-400 opens the collection with a warm tan Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a ligero-heavy core, a potent, full-flavored smoke that established much of LFD's early reputation. The Ligero Cabinet Oscuro L-400 shares the same ligero-forward construction but wears a darker, more muscular Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, adding depth without sacrificing any of the original's strength. The Double Ligero pushes further still, packed with twice the typical amount of ligero leaf and wrapped in Ecuadorian Sumatra, a cigar built specifically for veteran smokers who want maximum potency. Its counterpart, the Double Ligero Maduro, takes that same aggressive ligero core and wraps it in an Ecuadorian maduro leaf, adding sweetness and depth to the strength. Rounding out the sampler is the Air Bender Guerrero, a medium-to-full smoke with a more refined, balanced profile that transitions through spice and sweetness before settling into earthy, peppery territory, offering a slightly gentler counterpoint to the four ligero-forward cigars ahead of it.
Presented together, these five Toros give a genuine, comprehensive introduction to what La Flor Dominicana does across its portfolio, from bold and aggressive to balanced and refined, without requiring a purchase decision on any single line before you've had the chance to taste it.
