Product Description

Intensity
MildMediumFull

The Robusto-sized offering in LFD's original Suave line, and one of the most practical ways to experience the mild side of a brand best known for cigars that push strength to its limits. At 5 x 48, Maceo delivers the same Connecticut-wrapped, Dominican-cored blend as the rest of the Suave lineup in a shorter, more everyday format.

Suave was the very first blend Litto Gomez ever created, and to this day it remains the only genuinely mild line across La Flor Dominicana's entire portfolio. The Maceo takes that original recipe, a silky Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over Dominican binder and long-filler tobacco grown on the Gomez family's own La Canela estate, and presents it in a compact 5 x 48 Robusto, noticeably smaller and more manageable than the brand's Churchill-sized Mambises or the larger Maximo and Gobernador vitolas in the same line. Critically, this blend is ligero-free, a genuine departure from nearly everything else LFD produces, which is exactly why the flavor stays smooth and approachable without ever tipping toward the peppery intensity the brand is famous for.

The flavor journey here moves through distinct, recognizable phases. On the cold draw, sweet molasses and a touch of butter lead the way, with a distant earthiness in the background. Once lit, wood and cashew notes settle in with a lingering sweetness, and coffee appears on the retrohale. The second third shifts toward roasted peanuts, so much so that the aroma itself has been compared to a fresh bag straight from the shell, with a bit of saltiness and earth building underneath. By the final third, the nutty character gives way to something closer to freshly popped popcorn with a subtle butteriness, closing on a shorter, slightly salty and earthy finish. Throughout, the burn is slow, cool, and consistently even, the kind of construction quality that lets you simply relax into the smoke rather than manage it.

Flavor progression:

  1. Opening: sweet molasses and butter on the cold draw with distant earth; once lit, wood and cashew notes settle in with lingering sweetness and coffee on the retrohale
  2. Mid-smoke: roasted peanut character becomes dominant, complete with a shell-like aroma, a touch of saltiness, and earth building on a lengthening finish
  3. Close: the nutty notes fade into buttery popcorn character, with a shorter, earthy, salty finish carrying through to the end
