A complete reintroduction of the Winston Churchill name in 2015 brought a new blend built from four countries and five distinct filler leaves. The Petit Panatela, known within the line as The Artist, is the smallest format of that reintroduction, delivering the full complexity of the blend in a 4 x 38 built for a shorter, more deliberate occasion.

Davidoff named the Winston Churchill line after Sir Winston Churchill, whose relationship with cigars was as much a part of his public identity as his wartime leadership. When Davidoff rebuilt the blend from the ground up in 2015, the intention was to construct a cigar with the same range of character the man himself was known for: complex, resolute, and capable of shifting register without losing coherence. The result earned a 90-point rating from Cigar Aficionado in the August 2015 issue.

The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Rojiza, a reddish, oily leaf selected specifically for the creaminess and complexity it contributes rather than raw strength. Underneath sits a Mexican San Andrés Negro binder, grown in the volcanic soil near the Gulf of Mexico, which forms the darker structural backbone of the blend. The filler is where the complexity concentrates: Piloto Seco and a hybrid Olor and Piloto Seco leaf from the Dominican Republic, Piloto Mejorado Seco, and Seco leaves grown in the mineral-rich volcanic soils of Condega and Estelí in Nicaragua. Five distinct leaves, four regions, one blend. The Nicaraguan components bring spice and depth. The Dominican leaves round the profile with a more classical, refined structure.

At 4 x 38, the Petit Panatela is the smallest of the four standard Winston Churchill vitolas, alongside the Churchill-sized Aristocrat, the Toro-sized Commander, and the Robusto-sized Statesman. The narrow ring gauge concentrates the wrapper's contribution, sharpening the creamy oak, mocha coffee, and cocoa notes that Davidoff describes as distinct from the rest of its portfolio. Pepper, leather, and roasted character round out a profile built for a focused twenty-five to thirty-five-minute session rather than an extended sitting.
